Friday 8 November 2024 Remembrance Day 2024 In preparation for Remembrance Day, the children have been busy creating beautiful poppies for a special display outside our school. Using a variety of materials like paper, felt, twigs and wool, each child designed their own unique poppy, symbolising respect and remembrance for those who have served. They’ve been learning about the significance of the poppy and discussing why we wear them to honour the sacrifices made during times of war. The display is now filled with these handmade poppies, showing our school community's shared respect and gratitude as we commemorate this important day.

Thursday 24 October 2024 Year 4 - Take One Picture Studio Year 4 have had a fantastic experience in the Take One Picture studio, creating artwork inspired by ‘Courtyard of a house in Delft’ by Pieter de Hooch. They experimented with tone and shade at the sketching station, created intricate patterns with acrylic paint on tiles and performed mini plays using shadow puppets they had fashioned with lolly pop sticks and paper. We were lucky to be visited by a local willow weaver, Ruth Marley, who expertly supported the children in the making of our giant sculpture, soon to be revealed.

Wednesday 2 October 2024 Our Delft plates are almost done!! This week, Year One have been painting their Delft plates. We learned that a coat was not just something that you wear in bad weather, it can also mean another layer of paint! This was needed to give them their bright, white background. We then added the fine blue detail making them resemble the typical Royal Delft style. We've now got to varnish them so that they harden and shine! We're really proud of our pottery and can't wait to display them for all to see!
