Orienteering

In Year 3, the children have been developing their orienteering skills during outdoor learning sessions on the Sele Playing Field. Orienteering combines map reading and physical activity, helping children build confidence in their navigational abilities while staying active.

The children are learning how to read basic maps, including understanding symbols, keys, and compass directions. They are exploring how to orient a map to match the terrain, improving their spatial awareness and problem-solving skills. Working in small groups, they practice teamwork and communication skills by sharing responsibilities and supporting one another to find markers and complete the challenge!
