Year 3 Week 4: Sun Safety in Science

With the recent warm weather, our Year 3 scientists have been learning all about sun safety in their science lessons. We discovered the 5 S's of Sun Safety to help keep everyone safe when spending time outdoors:

☀️ Slip on a T-shirt to protect your skin.
🧴 Slop on sunscreen with a high SPF.
👒 Slap on a wide-brimmed hat.
😎 Seek shade, especially during the hottest part of the day.
🕶️ Slide on a pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes.

The children discussed why it is important to stay hydrated, wear suitable clothing, and protect themselves from the sun's harmful UV rays. They even shared their own ideas about how to stay safe during a heatwave and why these simple steps are so important. Using their creative habits they then created a poster to inform people of how to manage their health in a heatwave.

We are very proud of our young scientists for learning how to look after themselves and others. We hope everyone enjoys the sunshine safely this summer!
