Eco Warriors
This week, Mr Dixon, an author and consultant on sustainable schools, met the Eco Warriors to talk about heat energy used in school.
We looked at the school boiler in the basement - noticing the temperature of the heating, the insulation around the pipes and how these pipes feed into every radiator in school.
Mr Dixon explained how energy could be saved by keeping doors and windows closed when the heating was on. He demonstrated how smoke was released into the atmosphere as a by product of creating energy, e.g. from car emissions or from a chimney.
The Eco Warriors next meeting will be with the Site Manager, to talk about when the heating is on and whether this could be adjusted.
