Celebrating European Day of Languages 2024
Today is European Day of Languages! Children took part in activities to celebrate the range of languages that are spoken across school and in our community.
There was a great buzz found in classrooms where children were busy singing songs, creating flags and learning new ways to say hello and goodbye.
Children had lots of discussions with their teachers about languages they have heard or spoken and why it’s important to celebrate them.
“I didn’t think about this until now but in IKEA they have ‘Hej’ on the back of their T-shirt’s, that means hello, they’re saying hello to us! How kind is that?” Moss
At lunchtime children tucked into a delicious Spanish enchilada followed by a chocolate churro with cream. There were lots of smiles in the canteen today!
“I’ve never had a churro before and I would love to have them at home.” Isla and Ayda
